Simmons Keen Kutter “Blue Steel” – $40

Posted by holli4pirating on July 31, 2010

5/8, full hollow, round point, logo on scales. Simmons are know for importing great blades, and this is no exception. I left the staining on the blade to save the etch, which says Blue Steel with the Keen Kutter loge (written on a wedge) on the blade. The front scale also has the logo. No pitting on the blade, just staining. The pivot is snug, the blade sits open, the scales are straight, and the razor centers.

This razor is shave ready off the Naniwa 8k. You may choose your finisher – Coticule, Thuringian, or Asagi.

Wade & Butcher – $45

Posted by holli4pirating on July 30, 2010

13/16, quarter hollow, rounded square point, horn scales. Just a classic W&B; blade, scales, pins, and washers. A practice blade for me, so I left some pitting and the finish is not a perfect mirror, but she’ll blind you when you shave. This razor is not shave ready, but I’ll hone her up for $25 extra.

Ern #4 – Super Fine Hollow Ground Diamond Steel – $65

Posted by holli4pirating on July 28, 2010

5/8, full hollow, round point, jimps top and bottom, humpback/swayed spine. This blade sort of reminds me of the Ator with her beautiful shape. I left the staining on the front to preserve the etch – Super Fine Diamond Steel Hollow Ground. Another killer shaver from ERN. Scales are straight, blade stands open, pivot is snug, and the blade centers on closing.

This razor is shave ready off the Naniwa 8k. You may pick coticule, vintage Thuringian, or Asagi for the finisher, or you can leave it up to me.

Karl Erik Sitter Grade 0 – $65

Posted by holli4pirating on July 28, 2010

This is a Karl Erik grade 0 sitter. Karl Erik is a legendary Danish pipemaker, and the 0’s are fully hand made, high grade pipes. This one has a rather large bowl which has an asymmetrical shape that allows it to form fit to the right hand with a “normal” grip and to the left hand with a somewhat modified grip. And I always like a sitter in case I need to pause my smoking for a moment.

I purchased this as an estate pipe, and she was in very nice shape. Since then, she has been gently smoked and I have taken good care of her. I smoke only English blends through this pipe, so there’s no worry of funky aromatic flavoring. I have also cleaned her, so she’s ready to smoke.

If you are new to pipe smoking, I can include a few tobacco samples and some pipe cleaners. Beyond that, all you’d need is something to tamp with and something to light with.

The price includes shipping within the US via USPS Priority in a box with the proper protection. For alternate methods/destinations/services, buyer pays the difference.K

Hone Pack: Norton 220/1k – DMTEEF (8k) – C12k – $110

Posted by holli4pirating on July 22, 2010

Here is a package that will allow you to take razors from totally dull to shave ready.

The Norton 1k was my bevel setter for over a year. She’s lapped and chamfered – ready to go. I didn’t use the 220 side, so it’s not been lapped. I will lap it for you for $10 extra. Comes with the blue retail box/hone stand. This hone will need to be lapped periodically. 8 x 3

The DMTEEF is an 8k diamond on steel hone; she’s a quick cutter and will never need to be lapped. Comes with the retail packaging, and the feet have already been attached to the back of the hone. This is the 8 x 3 one.

The C12k is a great finisher, though a slow cutter. Some use slurry to increase the cut speed, then dilute to just water to finish, others just do more strokes. One side is lapped and chamfered. There is a small chip in the lapped side, but you can avoid it with an X stroke. I have, however, honed over it, and it will not catch the edge. If you’d like, I will lap one of the “edge” faces to give you a “narrow hone” as well for $10 extra. The back also has a chip (I dropped it once….). This hone should never need to be lapped again, unless you use excessive amounts of slurry for lots and lots of honings. This is the 8 x 2 x 1 version.

The price includes shipping within the US in a Flat Rate Priority Box (gotta love flat rate boxes for heavy hones! All you can eat for $10.70!). For alternate services/destinations/methods, buyer pays the difference. I can take PayPal, USPS MO, or check.

Zebra Brand – $32

Posted by holli4pirating on July 13, 2010

5/8, full hollow, square point.  Some light pitting on the blade, and staining as well.  No indication of where she’s made, but I’d bet Solingen.  Scales are straight, the blade sits open by 45 degrees, and centers on closing.  This razor is shave ready.

Wade & Butcher The Celebrated Hollow Ground – $90

Posted by holli4pirating on July 13, 2010

7/8, half hollow, square point.  The etch is a bit faded so I left the staining and some pitting in the razor to preserve the etch and the look of character.  I did, however, shine her up nicely.  Black horn scales are in great shape, though there is a slight warp near the wedge end.  This, however, does not affect the razor on closing – she centers nicely.  She won’t stand open till 90 degrees, where she snugs up nicely, but there is never any wobble and the razor centers on closing.  This razor is shave ready.
